DOVY BATTERY BABYCAM

Camera, NVR and recording

How do I set up the camera for the first time?

  • Charge the camera fully before use: connect the supplied USB-C cable to a standard 5 V / 1 A USB charger (not included). The charge indicator LED (small hole next to the USB-C port) lights orange while charging and turns green when complete (~2–3 hours).
  • Download the Protect by STRONG app (iOS: App Store / Android: Google Play) and create a free account. Verify your email address via the confirmation link.
  • Grant all requested permissions when prompted: Notifications (critical — without this you receive no alerts), Microphone (required for intercom), Bluetooth and Location (required during pairing only).
  • In the app, tap + or Add Device. Power on the camera (hold the POWER button). Hold the RESET button for 5 seconds until the status LED blinks red — pairing mode is active.
  • Select your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and enter the password. The app then displays a QR code on your phone screen — point the camera lens towards it at 15–25 cm. The camera plays a confirmation sound when it has read the code. Tap Next immediately.
  • Wait 30 seconds to 2 minutes for 'Connection successful' to appear.

Warning: The DOVY supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi ONLY. It will NOT connect to 5 GHz networks. SSID and password must each be 24 characters or fewer.

Tips: The app may also appear under the name 'CloudEdge' — this is the same application. A microSD card and a power adapter are NOT included in the box.

'SD card not detected' / Lullabies are unavailable

Both local video recording and the 14 lullabies require a working microSD card. Without one, the History tab shows 'SD card not detected' and the Lullabies menu is inaccessible.

  • Turn the camera OFF (hold the POWER button) before removing or inserting the card.
  • Reinsert the card firmly until you feel a click.
  • Verify the card meets the requirements: Class 10 minimum (UHS-I recommended), maximum 256 GB, formatted as FAT32. exFAT and NTFS are not supported — reformat as FAT32 on a computer if needed.

Tips: After successful insertion, open the app's History tab — a red timeline will appear, confirming the card is working.

How does video recording work? What happens when the card is full?

Two exclusive recording modes are available in Settings (⚙) > Recording Management:

  • Event Recording (default, recommended): records only when an event is detected. This mode saves storage space and battery.
  • All Day Recording: continuous 24/7 recording. Requires a large card (128 GB or more) and the camera plugged in permanently.

When the card is full, loop recording automatically overwrites the oldest clips. Download important videos from the History tab: select a clip and tap the Download button to save it to your phone.

Tips: The free cloud plan stores 6-second clips per event for 30 days automatically — even without a microSD card, you always have short video evidence of recent events.

I receive no notifications (motion, crying, temperature alerts)

Notifications require three separate layers to all be active:

  • System-level permission: go to your phone's Settings > Apps > Protect by STRONG > Notifications and make sure notifications are enabled.
  • App-level setting: in the app, go to camera Settings (⚙) > Alarm Management and make sure the relevant alarm type is enabled (Motion Detection, Crying Detection, etc.).
  • Main notification toggle: in camera Settings (⚙), verify that the 'Receive Alert Notifications' toggle is switched on.

Tips: Crying Detection is a silent push notification only — it does NOT trigger any sound on the camera or in the app. It sends a push alert to your phone only.

Crying detection is not triggering / Temperature is not displayed

Crying Detection not working: go to Settings (⚙) > Sound Settings and verify that the Microphone is enabled. Then go to Alarm Management > Crying Detection and check it is active with an appropriate sensitivity. Remember: Crying Detection sends a silent push notification only.

Temperature not displayed: the temperature sensor needs 30–60 seconds to initialise after startup. Wait and refresh the Live view. If the value still does not appear, check that the camera is online (solid blue LED).

Tips: To set temperature and humidity alerts: Settings (⚙) > Temperature and Humidity Settings > enable the alarm switch. Recommended range for a baby's room: 16–20°C, 40–60% RH.

The image is dark at night / Night vision mode explained

The DOVY has two completely independent lighting systems:

  • Infrared night vision (6 × 940nm IR LEDs): these LEDs are totally invisible to the human eye. When the room is dark, they activate automatically and the camera produces a clear black-and-white image. The 940nm wavelength does not disturb the baby's sleep. Effective range: 2–4 metres.
  • Night light / veilleuse (2 × multicolour LEDs): this is a visible coloured light for ambience, controlled separately via the app (Settings > Night Light Setting) or the physical veilleuse button. Turning the night light on or off has no effect on infrared night vision.

Tips: The night light veilleuse turns off automatically after 30 minutes to save battery.

The intercom does not work / No audio from the camera

  • No microphone permission: phone Settings > Apps > Protect by STRONG > Permissions — enable Microphone. Without it, two-way audio is impossible.
  • Camera audio settings: camera Settings (⚙) > Sound Settings — confirm that Microphone, Speaker, and Record Voice are all enabled.
  • If you hear the camera but cannot speak: your phone microphone permission is missing.
  • If nothing is heard from the camera: the camera microphone may be muted — press and hold the PAIR/Mute button on the camera to toggle the mute state.

How do I connect the camera to a new Wi-Fi network?

There is no in-app option to change the Wi-Fi credentials without re-pairing. The full procedure is:

1Delete the device

In the app, go to camera Settings (⚙) > Device Information > Delete device.

2Enter pairing mode

On the camera, hold the RESET button for 5 seconds until the status LED blinks red.

3Re-pair the camera

Follow the full pairing procedure with the new Wi-Fi credentials.

Warning: During the procedure, your phone must be connected to the new Wi-Fi network.

The camera is showing as offline / How do I reset it?

  • Restart the camera: hold the POWER button to turn it off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on. Wait for the status LED to become solid blue.
  • Restart your home router/Internet box.
  • If still offline after restart: hold RESET for 5 seconds (LED blinks red) and re-pair the camera.
  • If the camera still appears in the app: go to Settings (⚙) > Device Information > Delete device to remove it manually before re-adding it.

Tips: For persistent bugs, force-stop the Protect by STRONG app completely and relaunch it. If the issue persists, contact STRONG support at www.support-strong-eu.com.

How do I share camera access? / Privacy settings

Device sharing: go to camera Settings (⚙) > Device Share > Add Share. Enter the email address of the person to share with (they must have a Protect by STRONG account). They will be able to view the live stream and receive alerts.

Privacy controls:

  • Lens OFF (Settings > Privacy Protection > Lens OFF): completely disables image capture electronically. The camera stays connected to Wi-Fi and can be reactivated remotely at any time.
  • Privacy Schedule: automatically turns the lens off and on at defined times.
  • Video Encryption (Settings > Privacy Protection > Video Encryption): encrypts the video stream so only your account can decode it.
